Unthreatened by the Deep's uncertainties, they do not require emblems to define themselves, but they have used company logos, insignias of rank, planetary emblems, religious or ethnic mandalas, and other traditional visual signals to strengthen their causes.

After the downfall of Empress Zupa, the Empire needed a new communications system, and Horl killed Gola in a sacrificial ritual that imprisoned her life-pattern in the soul-gem he was forging. The Decadent Epoch's emblem for the office of the mind-river of Lal honors her sacrifice.

When he was dismissed as major by his son, Emperor Torm, Numo fled to Saqufe and opened a resaurant chain. His logo features a bioid lobster like those that are part of the traditional Saqufean tea ceremony.

Haree turned up centuries later on an uninhabited moon.

Her imperial insignia shows one who has given her all for the Empire, though her efforts were unappreciated by her grandmother.
