Svishal of Two Sisters Detective Agency

Svishal is an old-fashioned detective who depends on her instincts and insight to solve cases. She knows that the human mind is a marvelous machine which not even the technology of the Empire can match.

She is assisted by her husband, Riemis, a mindsea who always wants to lecture her and everyone else about Deep-level realities.

They are renting a desert home from Lalian peasants while waiting to join a creche community where they will raise their first child.

Sunfox is the Empire's most famous detective. He solves cases by teaming up with his horse, Sunlight of Prophets, who, like all Torsa, has Deep-level senses. Sunfox always wears a whistle around his neck to summon his horse.

The Great Cat

The Great Cat can be called from the Plains of Possibility like the Torsa, but only after a ceremony of worship and a shouted guess of "Black!" or "White!" If you guess correctly, it will appear as a giant cat with sparkly black-and-white fur.

Urbefti

Urbefti, a species of Deep-level termite, can be summoned to boats after certain maneuvers. Large as dogs, sleek and soft, with a blue translucence, they have long finny bodies and paddles.

Yyyy

Yyyy can be summoned by creating a zeolite with its name as the framework structure. It exudes joy and self-importance.

Jasper

Jasper is summoned by placing a piece of jasper in the center of a small square patch of ground that has been carefully groomed and running around it a hundred-and-one times. It can take on human form.

Routune

Routune can be summoned by focusing starlight with a piece of quartz. It looks like a beautiful child and craves human songs.

Mark of the Eight can be summoned with a pattern of eight polished onyx eggs placed in sand. It looks like a plant with grabby hands.

Ladelee

Ladelee, god of cows, can be summoned by walking a pattern shown on a map.

Mmmyrumkb

Mmmyrumkb can be summoned with a pattern inscribed in gold foil. It resembles a bipedal bear with Deep-level sensory organs where ears would be.
